Replace the VAX Bumpers
Replace the VAX Bumpers
Use the following steps to replace the VAX bumpers located on the VAX
column's bottom hard stop.
1. Using an X-acto knife or similar tool, remove the original VAX bumpers

2. Using the alcohol wipe provided in the FRU kit, wipe clean the VAX

a. Apply a small drop of Loctite 380 (approximately 3/16-inch in
diameter) to the two VAX bumper mounting areas on the hard stop.
b. Using a foam applicator, spread each drop over the mounting
surface. Leave approximately 1/16-inch clear margin around the
edges of the mounting area.
c. Allow the adhesive to dry for approximately one minute, until the
adhesive becomes slightly tacky.
d. Carefully place a bumper in the center of each mounting area.
Adjust the bumper if necessary, until it is correctly centered.
e. Apply firm pressure to the VAX bumpers for two minutes.
f. Using the X-acto knife, remove any glue that spread past the edges
of the hard stop.
