DIFFICULTY
When the receiving party
says vertical streaks appear
on the faxes they receive.

SUGGESTIONS
Your machine's scanner may be dirty or the receiving party's
print head may be dirty. Clean your scanner and make a copy
to check if the problem was caused by your machine.
The machine knows the incoming call is not a fax so it is
signaling you to answer the telephone call. Pick up the
handset (and press Tel for MFC-9050) or answer from an
extension phone and press your machine's Deactivation
Code (default setting is #51).
If you answered at the machine, press Start and hang up
immediately. If you answered at an extension phone, press
your Remote Activation Code (default setting is 51). When
your machine answers, hang up.
The machine is unplugged. The toner cartridge and drum unit
are installed properly. The interface cable is securely
connected between the machine and computer. Check to see
if LCD is showing an error message.
Reset the machine or unplug it. Make sure your
application software is correctly set up to use the machine by
checking the primary settings in your application software.
The machine received a very complex print job and could not
process part of the page. This may be solved in several ways.

Workstation Version 4.0 with the supplied
printer driver, see the "Windows
section. Try to reduce the complexity of your document or
reduce print resolution.
Your computer is not recognizing the printer's "input buffer
full" signal. Please make sure you connect the printer cable
correctly.
Reduce the printer resolution. Reduce the complexity of your
document and try again. Reduce the graphic quality or
the number of font sizes within your application software.
Expand the printer memory by installing one of the optional
memory boards (ME-1000 or ME-2000).
Most laser printers have a restriced area that will not accept
print. Usually these are the first two lines and last two lines.
This leaves an area of 62 printable lines. Adjust the
top and bottom margins in your document to allow for this.

Make sure the Windows
printer driver is installed and you
select it in your application software.
If you are using the supplied Windows
recover operation on in the Setup dialog box and try again.
Reduce the print resolution or reduce the complexity of your
document and try again. Expand the printer memory by
installing one of the optional memory boards.
