General overhaul
Because of the presence of ball bearings the
aerator requires a general overhaul every three
years. Disconnect the power supply and
disconnect the power supply cable from the
nearest connector block or control panel.
Remove the aerator from the tank using its
extractor chain; nothing needs unscrewing.
Clean the aerator with a water jet. The aerator
can now be transported to a repair shop for overhaul.
Dismantle the aerator completely, clean all the sealed
surface and check that they are intact. Substitute any
damaged parts; clean and grease the ball bearings. Replace
the lower mechanical seal if water or oil and water have
penetrated into the stator housing.
These operations should be carried out by qualified
experts, by an authorized repair shop.
Motor insulation check
It is advisable to check motor insulation with a 500 V
megger during overhaul.
Insulation should be over 1 megaohm both between the
various phases and between each phase and the aerator
casing.
Lubrication
The aerator ball bearing are the self-lubricating RS or 2Z
screw types and therefore do not require periodic greasing.
However they should be checked for wear periodically.
These operations should be carried out by qualified
experts, by an authorized repair shop.
Unscrew the oil cap, drain the oil off into a clean container
and inspect it. Refill the oil tank with oil. Replace the cap;
it is advisable to substitute the cap's o-ring before
replacement.
Quantities of oil in the AJ, AJ/L aerators at page 3.
Rotor and suction cover check
If the volume of air decreases:
-Check that the rotor and suction cover are free from
obstructions and remove any detritus;
-Substitute the rotor and/or suction cover and/or rotor seal
bearing. If these are damaged please contact an authorized
repair shop.
Air intake check
Check that the air intake pipe is not obstructed or
damaged, which may cause motor overload. Check that the
regulation valve, when present, is in good condition.
Check that the silencer, when present, is dust-free. If it is
clogged with dust, wash it. All the steps detailed should be
carried out periodically to ensure the aerator's long-term
efficiency.
