pipe makes the aerator easy to remove or lay without
having to use expensive gangways or empty the tanks.
When the aerator has been installed in accordance with the
instructions contained in this manual and following the
various diagrams it contains, the acoustic radiation
pressure it emits within the prescribed operating range
never touches 70 dB(A).
3.2 OPERATIONAL SUITABILITY
WARNING
AJ submersible aerators should not be used:
-For dry running;
-For aerating/mixing sewage at over 40 °C (104°F);
-At depths of more or less than the minimum and
maximum levels stated in the charts in this manual;
-For aerating/mixing sewage with a pH under
or over 6.5 ~ 8.5 (special versions are available
on request for different pH values);
-For aerating/mixing inflammable liquids;
-In explosion risk environments.

4. STORAGE AND MOVEMENT

Store the pump in a dry, dust-free place.
Beware of potential instability due to incorrect
positioning.
Rotate the rotating parts at regular intervals to
prevent them from blocking (see the section on
"preliminary inspection" for a description of
the correct procedure). TAKE CARE NOT TO DAMAGE
THE POWER SUPPLY LINE DURING MOVEMENT
(FIG. 18 PAGE 40)
WARNING
In order to be stored safely after a preceding installation
the submersible aerator must be cleaned thoroughly (DO
NOT USE hydrocarbon derivatives).
The AJ submersible aerator should be handled
with great care, using suitable lifting equipment
that complies with safety regulations when
required and using suitable attachment points
(handles, eyebolts - SEE FIG. 19, PAGE 41).
Never use power supply cables to move the
aerator.
Do not bend cables sharply (the minimum bend
angle should be five times the cable diameter).
Never wet or immerge the end of the cables in
liquids.

ASSEMBLY
(FIG.18 PAGE 40, FIG. 16 PAGE 44)
5.1 PRELIMINARY INSPECTION
Inspect unit for damage during transportation.
Install the aerator in as vertical position as possible.
Using the aerator in a non-vertical position causes greater
wear on the rotating parts.
Do not submerge the tip of the electrical cable or lower or
raise the aerator by the cable; use the chain provided.
Incorrect handling may allow water to get into the cable or
break internal conductors, causing motor failure.
If the cable has to be lengthened follow the instructions
below:
-handle the splice carefully, avoid submerging it if
possible;
-only lengthen the cable as required choosing a suitable
section.
If the cable is too long and the section too small there may
be a drop in voltage, making it impossible to start the
motor.
-Installation depth has a considerable effect on the motor
load. The deeper it is the greater the motor load.
For safety the following depths should not be exceeded:
3,5 m.c.a.
5,0 m.c.a.
6,0 m.c.a.
6,0 m.c.a.
6,5 m.c.a.
7,0 m.c.a.
7,0 m.c.a.
8,0 m.c.a.
The aerator must only be run fully submerged in the liquid
to be aerated; dry running will cause over-heating.
The aerator should be installed in square or round tanks.
For rectangular tanks it is recommended to install two or
more aerators of lower power or, alternatively, AJ aerators
combined with mixer to prevent stagnation in an aerator-
free part of tank.
If the unit has been stored for an extended period, check
the oil level in the aerator and if it has been previously
used check that no impurities and/or water are present (see
the "maintenance" section).
Before connecting the power supply check manually
that the rotator can rotate freely.
WARNING: never carry this operation out
when the unit is connected to a power supply.
Check that the rotator can rotate freely with
the unit resting on a flat surface (SEE
WEIGHT TABLE PAGES 42-43).
Suitably qualified experts must connect the
power supply cable to the control panel, which
must have adequate thermal and electrical
protection. The experts will also check that
correct clockwise rotation.
WARNING:
Rotation direction may also be checked
visually. Maintain a distance of at least 1 m.
From moving parts, wear adequate protective
clothing and never touch the machinery.
