The I-Series switch features include:
• Input/Output Modules (IOMs)
There are two I/O slots on the I-Series switch, each of which can be populated with any of the
available IOMs. The IOMs currently available are:

• Two Uplink Ports
There are two 1-Gigabit Ethernet Mini-GBIC uplink slots that provide the option of installing
Mini-GBICs for 1000BASE-T compliant copper connections or 1000BASE-SX/LX/ELX
fiber-optic connections. Each uplink port has an LED, marked as 25 and 26 on the front panel,
that indicates activity.
• DC Power
The I-Series switch requires 24 VDC input and can support a redundant power source. For
power supply specifications, refer to
not provided. However, an AC to DC converter power supply, part number I3H-PWR, is
available to be purchased from Enterasys.
• Alarm Relays
The I-Series switch provides two relays; a Primary and Secondary. By default, the Primary
Relay monitors DC power. Both the Primary and Secondary relays can be configured to
monitor system over-temperature, port link state, port forwarding state, and RMON alarms.
You connect the relays to your own monitoring system.
• Standalone or Rack Mountable Chassis
The I-Series switch can be installed as a freestanding unit on a shelf or table. Optionally, it can
be mounted into a standard 48.26-centimeter (19-inch) equipment rack, or onto a DIN rail. The
rack-mount kit and DIN clips are optional and purchased separately.
• Power LEDs
The two power LEDs indicate voltage for the primary and secondary power inputs. When the
LED is off, there is either no power or voltage has dropped below 18 V.
