Ex has three working modes. Manual and Automatic modes have been in the machine since the
beginning and now a third mode called Pause mode. The active mode is shown by the Mode symbol
located at second row under Line out in Main screen (see Figure 1).
Figure 1. Mode symbol in Main screen.
Manual mode: Traditional mode when machine is not used for fishing. The engine only starts when the
user presses the [U]p button. The Mode symbol for Manual mode is blank.
Automatic mode: The mode when automatic fishing with any of the built-in Fishing programs. Motor
is completely controlled by Ex. When the [A]uto button is pressed, the Auto symbol is displayed, which
is built up of the 5 symbols in Figure 2. These appear one at a time and form a rotary animation for the
purpose of the rotation of the wheel. The orientation depends on the Counter - Direction [E43P] setting
Change if it's incorrect. When the motor stops during pauses, the symbol freezes.
Pause mode: This mode is functionally similar to Manual mode, except that the
motor automatically starts if the line is pulled out, to keep the line at a Stop point.
This easily occurs if the line remains in the water during transport. Pause mode
shows as a traditional pause sign by Mode symbol as shown in Figure 3, which
also flashes.
PAUSE MODE – Activates when [E445] it is determined when and how Pause mode is enabled.
Following settings are available:
• "At power up" This totally replaces the Manual mode with the Pause mode, It's activated
immediately when the machine is turned on.
• "Using [U]p button". Ex starts up with Manual mode. Pause mode is activated only when the
motor is stopped by pressing the [U]p button (Not the [S]top button). The [S]top, [A]uto and [Z]ero
buttons brings Ex back to Manual mode. This makes it possible to use Pause mode only in
circumstances when motor is accepted to suddenly start (if line is pulled out), but normally motor
does not start.
• "Disabled" Pause mode is not used.
Pause mode – Wheel laps [E445 P] determines how much line is allowed to be rolled out before
motor starts to haul up again. Set in number of wheel laps.
Table shows units and value limits. See [E654] for menu detail level setting. Some screens are not visible if simple view, or normal view are Chosen .
