5.8 Emergency release of the backrest

An emergency release of the backrest could be
necessary in the case of power- or motor failure.
WARNING!
Risk of entrapment
The backrest comes down fast and there is a risk
of entrapment under the backrest.
– A minimum of two persons are required to
release the backrest.
– Do not reach under the backrest, while
lowering.
WARNING!
Risk of head injury
User can hit the bed end while lowering.
– Make sure the users' head is not above the
edge of the backrest.
Risk of spinal injury or wounds
Quick movements can cause spinal injury or
wounds to open.
– Check user while lowering.
IMPORTANT!
– An emergency release of the height adjustment
or thigh/leg section is NOT possible.
– Remove the plug from the mains socket before
emergency release of the backrest.
1. Both persons must hold the backrest.
2. One of them pulls out the cotter pin from the motor
on the left hand side.
3. Both persons slowly lower the backrest until it is
completely down.
5.8.1 Quick release backrest — CPR (optional)
The CPR function is marked with a label on the bed.

The quick release handle A is placed under the mattress
support frame on the left side.
IMPORTANT!
Before use
– Make sure that the carer is familiar with the
CPR function before using it the first time.
– Place the bed with free access to the release
handle (left side of bed).
WARNING!
Risk of entrapment or squeezing of body parts
in openings.
– Do not reach under the backrest, while
lowering.
– Pay attention to body parts (user and carers)
during lowering.
– Hold backrest while lowering to make sure it
does not come down too fast.
Use CPR function
1. Hold the backrest with one hand. Recommended to be
one person on each side.
2.
Pull the handle A upwards while holding the backrest.
The body weight of the user presses down the backrest.
3. Keep holding the handle up when lowering the backrest.
4. Release the handle to fixate the backrest in wanted
position.
The backrest motor will work normally again, when
the handle has been released and gone back to its
resting position.
5.9 Integrated mattress support
extension
For users taller than two meters, it is recommended
to use the mattress support extension.
