OPERATION

Power Up Diagnostics

There is no power on/off switch on the DuoTect-C. When the
unit is plugged into the power source, power is applied. Each
time that the DuoTect-C is powered up, an internal memory
test is performed automatically, before the unit is ready for use,
If the power-up test detects any failures, the ALARM LED and
one or more of the CH 1, CH 2, or MENU LED's will blink.
The blinking LED's indicate the following component failures:
MENU LED:
CH 1 LED:
CH 2 LED:
If none of these LED's are blinking at power up, the unit is
powered and ready for use.
Run-time Diagnostics
If the DuoTect-C encounters a problem during normal
operation, the MENU LED will blink. In addition, when the
menu system is started, an error message is displayed in place
of the Passcode screen (see page 4). If this occurs, record the
complete error message and call American Dynamics
Technical Support Center for assistance. l-800-442-2225.

Monitor Control

Two separate video outputs, OUTPUT 1 and OUTPUT 2, are
provided for connection of monitors or other video equipment.
Either of two monitor arrangements may be selected by the
Number of Monitors menu setting (SETUP, page 7):
Number of Monitors set to 1: A single monitor is connected to
output 1. When no alarms are present, the monitor acts as a
switcher monitor and either channel may be called to the
monitor or sequenced automatically using the front panel
Channel select buttons (see below). When an alarm occurs,
the switcher operation is overridden and the monitor acts as
an alarm monitor until the alarm is cleared.
Number of Monitors set to 2: A monitor is connected to each
output. The video signals from each channel are routed
separately to the respective outputs.

Video Output Selection

When the Number of Monitors is set to 1. the Channel select
buttons determine which video signal is routed to Output 1.
Press CH 1 to route the video from channel 1 to Output 1.
Press CH 2 to route the video from channel 2 to Output 1.
If the Number of Monitors is set to 2, the channel 1 video
signal is directly routed to Output 1 and channel 2 video is
directly routed to Output 2.

Automatic Sequence Operation

Press both Channel select buttons simultaneously to start an
automatic sequence of both video inputs to Output 1. Both
channel video signals are alternated on Output 1 at the dwell
time selected by the menu setting (SETUP, page 7).

Video Loss

The DuoTect-C has automatic video loss detection on both
input channels. Video loss detection is always enabled. When
a loss of video is detected on an input, the following occurs:
The appropriate channel LED (CH 1 or CH 2) flashes,
indicating the input channel with loss of video.
The audio beeper sounds intermittently. The beeper sounds
even if it is disabled (OFF) by the setup menus.
If the Number of Monitors is set to 1, the switcher output is
locked onto the channel which still has a valid video input.
To clear the audio beeper:
1. Press the button corresponding to the channel (CHl or
CH2).
2. Press the ALARM button.
Note:
The DuoTect-C
cannot
signal input to channel 1. However, if the video signal for
channel 2 is lost, the DuoTect-C will still operate in one
channel mode until the video signal is restored (see below).
After a proper video signal has been restored to the channel,
the unit can be returned to the proper operating mode as
follows:
Press and hold the MENU button until the menu system is
brought up on monitor 1 (page 4).
Ensure that the proper video signal is present at the rear
panel connector(s).
Press the ALARM button to exit the menu.
