Buttonhole stitch
Cut the center of the buttonhole being
careful not to cut any stitches on either
side. Use a pin on the buttonhole so you
do not cut too many stitches.
Please Note:
When cutting the buttonhole with the
seam ripper, do not place your hands in
the cutting direction, otherwise injuries
may result.
Making a buttonhole on stretch
fabrics
When sewing buttonholes on stretch
fabric, hook heavy thread or cord under
the buttonhole foot.
Attach the buttonhole foot and hook
the gimp thread onto the back of the
presser foot.
Bring the two gimp thread ends to
the front of the foot and insert them
into the grooves, then tie them there
temporarily. Lower the presser foot and
start sewing.
The zig-zag should sew over the heavy
thread or cord.
Once sewing is completed, pull the
gimp thread gently to remove any slack,
then trim off any excess.
Please Note:
It is suggested that you use interfacing
on the backside of the fabric.
