    Chapter 1 Introduction The TSB42AA9 (StorageLynxt) EVM is a free-standing evaluation module that acts as a bridge between a PC or Macintosh 1394 bus and an ATA/ATAPI device. It is used to evaluate system compatibility, to develop optional soft- ware that resides in external memory for StorageLynx, and to develop device drivers.

    StorageLynx EVM Hardware Installation 3.2 StorageLynx EVM Hardware Installation The following parts/devices are needed to set up the EVM: 1394 cable ATA/ATAPI device (HDD, etc.) ATA/66 ribbon cable PC power supply for ATA/ATAPI device PC/Macintosh with 1394 connection (PC with Windows 98SE is necessary for the programming application) To set up the EVM, perform the following steps: 1) Ensure the ATA/ATAPI device power supply is off.

    StorageLynx EVM Programming Application Overview 4.1 StorageLynx EVM Programming Application Overview The StorageLynx EVM bundle contains the following software files: S2LynxVC.exe. StorageLynx programming application executable file. Support files: SEQFWAPI.reg. Registration file for registry edits. SEQFWAPI.sys. WAPI1394.dll. Sbp2lynx.hex. Flash memory software. Intel Hex file format output by most 8051 compilers.

    Chapter 5 Programming the TSB42AA9 (StorageLynxt) This chapter explains how to run the StorageLynx EVM programming applica- tion. The StorageLynx EVM programming application can only be run after the EVM hardware and software are successfully installed. See Section 3.2 for hardware installation instructions and Section 4.2 for software installation in- structions.

    Chapter 6 Troubleshooting If a problem occurs when running the Texas Instruments supplied software, use the following troubleshooting tips to correct the problem. If the problem persists, contact Texas Instruments Applications Engineering. Close the S2LynxVC screen. Unplug the 1394 cable and plug the cable back in.
