Monthly Maintenance
Clean the Encoder Strip (Plastic Encoder Strip Only)
11. Wet a Lint Free Wipe with isopropyl alcohol
12. Using the saturated lint free wipe, remove grease, lint and ink adhering to the Encoder
Strip.
13. Move the carriage to clean the entire Encoder Strip
CAUTION:
 Using lint free wipes helps ensure the integrity of the encoder strip. Failure to use lint
free wipes may result in damage to the encoder strip and prevent printer functionality.
Be sure to clean in the direction of the arrow in the figure.

Do not directly touch the encoder strip with hands.

Do not bend the encoder strip.

Do not allow the alcohol to adhere to the timing belt.

Do not allow the Lint Free Wipes to come into contact with the Guide Rod.

All of these can cause a CR encoder error and the encoder will have to be cleaned
again.
