5 OPERATION

This section contains instructions for specific common operations of the DLC50. It is organized by
operation topic. The following topics are discussed: selecting a TX channel, selecting a TX frequency,
Selecting a TX preset, setting encryption, setting RF power level, changing the RX meter display,
Dimming the display. The Display, Controls, and Menu Navigation section (chapter 3) should be
consulted prior to operating the DLC50.
5.1

Selecting a TX or RX Channel

A TX channel plan must already have been loaded into the DLC50 or the TX channel select menu will
not appear. Navigate to the TX>Channel menu and press the OK button (or inner knob). The channel
number will backlight indicating the field that is being edited. Rotate the inner knob until the desired
channel is indicated and press OK or press the inner knob to accept. Notice the channel number and
channel frequency are displayed on the top line of the display.
RX channel selection is similar, except the process starts by navigating to the RX>Channel menu.
Receiver channel and frequency will be displayed on the second line of the display.
5.2

Selecting a TX or RX Frequency

To select a transmitter frequency navigate to the TX>Frequency menu and press the OK button (or
inner knob). The 1000's digit of the transmitter frequency displayed on the top line will be highlighted.
Use the outer knob to highlight different digits of the transmitter frequency, and use the inner knob to
change the value of the highlighted digit. Press OK when finished. The top line of the display will now
display the new frequency. If the selected frequency matches a channel in the the TX channel plan, the
corresponding channel number will also be displayed. If the frequency does not match a channel in the
channel plan, an asterisk "*" will display in the channel number location. If no channel plan is loaded for
the transmitter, then the channel number location will be blank.
RX frequency selection is similar, except the process starts by navigating to the RX>Frequency menu.
Receiver channel and frequency will be displayed on the second line of the display.
5.3

Recalling a TX or RX Preset

TX presets are memories located in the transmitter that, depending on the transmitter model, store
frequencies, modes, and other settings. Refer to the specific transmitter's manual for information
regarding the the number of transmitter presets and their contents.
To select a TX preset, navigate to the TX>Recall Preset menu and press OK. Use the outer and inner
knobs to indicate the desired TX preset number and press OK. The new transmitter frequency will be
displayed on the top line and the display will return to the normal display.
RX preset selection is similar, except the process starts by navigating to the RX>Recall Preset menu.
The new receiver frequency will be displayed on the second line of the display.
5.4

Recalling, Saving and Erasing a DLC50 Preset

DLC50 presets can be customized by the user in the Configuration>Presets menu. Individual DLC
Presets may be assigned to Soft-keys, or the DLC preset menu can be launched by a soft-key or from
the Simple UI. (See setup and configuration chapter)
To recall a DLC50 preset:
1. Navigate to DLC Preset>Recall and press OK.
