External Relay Setup

Configuration>External Relay Setup>RYn>Invert
Configuration>External Relay Setup>RYn>Hot SW Prot
Mode - The 4 Open Collector relay drivers (RY1 – RY4) in the DLC50 can be configured as Manual or
Automatic. Manual relays are commanded on or off by a user command (soft-key or menu selection) or
as part of a DLC50 preset. Automatic relays are controlled by the frequency of the transmitter.
Auto F sets the upper and lower frequency threshold for the specified relay. An automatic relay will be
on when the frequency of the transmitter is between the lower and upper Auto F limits for that relay.
(Unless invert is selected.)
Invert inverts the frequency selection for a relay so that the relay is on when the frequency is outside of
the upper and lower Auto F limits and off between the auto F limits.
Hot Sw Prot – Hot Switch Protection for a relay assures that the transmitter will be off when the relay
changes state. This option should be selected for any relays that are in the transmit RF path to protect
the RF power amplifier and the relays from possible damage. When a hot switch protected relay is to
be switched, the DLC50 will command the transmitter off (if it was on), switch the relay, then restore the
transmitter to its previous transmitting state (standby or transmit).
The relay control configurability allows multiple channel filters, or sub-band switches to be automatically
controlled. An array of 4 channel filters can be controlled using only 2 relay drivers as shown below.
