4 SETUP AND CONFIGURATION

The DLC50 can control a variety of microwave system components and is very flexible. But it must be
configured for the equipment first. The configuration can be modified in the Configuration menu group
of the Expert Menu system. The configuration menu group consists of language setting, RX serial
setup, TX serial setup, Remote serial setup, USB Flash functions, External Relay setup, presets setup,
Simple UI setup, softkey setup, key-timer setup, and system functions. Each will be described in the
following sections.
4.1

Language Setup

Configuration>Language
English or Spanish languages may be selected. The default language is English. Other language
modules may be added.
4.2

RX Serial Setup

Configuration>RX Serial>RX Model
Configuration>RX Serial>Port
If a receiver is to be used, the DLC50 must be configured to communicate with it. The serial
configuration consists of selecting the correct model of receiver, and designating a serial port for the
receiver. Normally the receiver will be installed on the COM3 port. RX serial configuration is set in the
Configuration>RX Serial menu. In some limited installations, a receiver may share a serial port with a
transmitter in a daisy-chain connection. In a shared configuration, COM2 may be selected for the RX
serial port setting. The DLC50 will communicate with the receiver on the selected serial port using
remote address A6h. The receiver may need to be configured to communicate on this address before
installation. If no receiver is used in the system, the RX Model should be set to "none".
4.3

TX Serial Setup

Configuration>TX Serial>TX Model
If a transmitter is to be used, the DLC50 must be configured to communicate with it. The serial
configuration consists of selecting the correct model of transmitter. The DLC50 will communicate with
the transmitter on COM2 serial port using remote address A5h. The transmitter may need to be
configured to communicate on this address before installation. If no transmitter is used in the system,
the TX model should be set to "none".
4.4

Remote Serial Setup

Configuration>Remote Serial Setup
The remote serial port (COM0) is a multifunction port. The Remote COM0 port may be physically
connected to on the rear panel (IO connector) or the front panel (2.5mm round), but not both. It may
only have one connection made to it at a time. The front panel connector is provided for temporary
connection for maintenance. Remote connections, other than maintenance, should use the rear panel
I/O connection to COM0. The following configuration types for this port are discussed below
None - When the COM0 serial port is not in use, it should be configured to "none".
