Updates of the DLC50 firmware may be made via the front panel serial port, while updates to channel plans, presets, preferences, etc. may be made via the front panel USB host port using a USB thumb drive.
Power Amplifier (PA). The DLC50 is available in the models shown in Table 1. Any of these models may be used as a drop-in replacement for HCP50-II controllers when used with adapter cable 7314395012.
Description Panel Mounting Fasteners (Dzus) (x2) Power Switch: Turns on the DLC50 control box and enables the external main system power relay, which in turn supplies power to all of the RF equipment (transmitters and receivers). Antenna Actuator Switch: Primary control of antenna actuator; when switched to the “up” position, the TAA-101 retracts the antenna.

The remote primary and remote secondary modes allow a second DLC50 (the secondary) to connect to a DLC50 (the primary) that is installed in an aircraft. This allows the secondary DLC50 to act as a secondary point of control for the microwave equipment. The secondary DLC50 mimics the primary DLC50 providing identical displays and control of any attached transmitter and receiver.
2. Connect the power and actuator cables to the appropriate rear-panel connectors. 3. Position the DLC50 into its mounting slot in the control panel and turn fasteners ¼ turn to lock in place. Consult Figure 5 for nominal panel size and dimensions.

DC Power and DC Power Control Connections DC power to the DLC50 must be applied to pin A of the four-pin power connector. DC return (GND) is connected to pin C of the four-pin power connector. DC input power to the DLC50 should be powered from the same circuit breaker as the rest of the microwave system components, including any external relays.
The commands to the DLC50 will connect to pin 8 of the 25 pin I/O connector. The status will come out of the DLC50 on pin 7 of the 25- pin I/O connector.
BMS manufactures a serial cable (Figure 15; BMS P/N 7314395013) to allow connection of a laptop serial port to the DLC50 front- panel serial connector for pass-thru modes for transmitter and receiver maintenance.
0-28V signal may be connected to pin 14 of the 25-pin I/O connector. When connected to a common external dimming signal, manual dimming of the DLC50 from the dimming menu will allow trim adjustment of the DLC50 panel brightness to match other instruments at night time or night vision settings.
DLC50 Control Panel Installation and Operation Manual | Doc. No. 6051439500 Rev. A 3 DISPLAYS, CONTROLS AND MENU NAVIGATION The user interface on the DLC50 allows the user to navigate the menu system and monitor system status. The user interface consists of 4 pushbutton keys, a dual rotary encoder (with integral push button), a 3-line display and various LEDs.
“UP” or deployed “DN” position. While the actuator is in transition, neither LED will be lit. The alarm LED lights to indicate an alarm from the DLC50 or one of the attached microwave system components. The nature of the alarm will be displayed on the second line of the display.
The Simple UI is set up under Configuration>Simple UI from the Expert Menu. To switch between Simple UI and Expert Menus, turn off the DLC50, then hold the 1 and 3 soft-keys in while turning the DLC50 back on. Release the soft-keys after the splash-screen appears.
DLC50 Control Panel Installation and Operation Manual | Doc. No. 6051439500 Rev. A 4 SETUP AND CONFIGURATION The DLC50 can control a variety of microwave system components and is very flexible. But it must be configured for the equipment first. The configuration can be modified in the Configuration menu group of the Expert Menu system.
DLCCNFG.dat Filenames for any files to be loaded by the DLC50 must first be changed to match the above filenames for the type of file used. The same channel plan file may be used for both the transmit and receive channel plan, but they must be loaded separately and must be changed to the correct filename before loading.
Configuration>External Relay Setup>RYn>Hot SW Prot Mode - The 4 Open Collector relay drivers (RY1 – RY4) in the DLC50 can be configured as Manual or Automatic. Manual relays are commanded on or off by a user command (soft-key or menu selection) or as part of a DLC50 preset.
Each possible parameter that can be stored in a preset is selected or deselected in the preset setup configuration. When a DLC50 preset is saved, only the parameters selected by the user, will be saved in the DLC50 preset. The Preset setup list may be changed for each preset if desired.
The Key-Timer functions as a menu activity timeout timer. While in the menu system, if there is not key or rotary knob activity for the selected time-out period, the DLC50 will exit the menu system and return to the normal display. The default key-timer value is 20 seconds. Values of 10-60 seconds may be selected, or the time-out timer may be disabled by selecting “off”.
Selecting a TX or RX Channel A TX channel plan must already have been loaded into the DLC50 or the TX channel select menu will not appear. Navigate to the TX>Channel menu and press the OK button (or inner knob). The channel number will backlight indicating the field that is being edited.
DLC50 dimming input, then the external control should generally be used to adjust the panel brightness. In this case, the DLC50 dim menu will allow the panel brightness of the DLC50 to be trimmed to match other instruments at low-level settings of the external dimmer. In installations where the DLC50 is not connected to the external dimming control, the Dim menu can be used to adjust the DLC50 brightness over the entire adjustment range.
