Menu Navigation

Menu navigation is guided by the second line of the display which will identify the menu group, menu
item, or parameter to be selected or changed. The active field will be backlit on the display line.
There are two sets of menus available in the DLC50: the Expert Menu, and the Simple User Interface
(Simple UI). Each is explained below. The Simple UI is a significantly reduced subset of the menu
system, is user configurable, and is trimmed down to just a few common functions and sub-menus that
the user will want or need to access during operation. The Simple UI allows easy access to common
functions without the need to navigate unnecessary menus. For example, the Simple UI could be
configured to enable only the TX channel selection and Encryption sub-menus. In this case, rotating
the outer knob will advance from normal display, to TX channel selection, to Encryption, and back to
normal display. The navigation keys also appear while the Simple UI is activated. Accepting a selection
or pressing cancel or exit will return to normal display. The Simple UI is set up under
Configuration>Simple UI from the Expert Menu.
To switch between Simple UI and Expert Menus, turn off the DLC50, then hold the 1 and 3 soft-keys in
while turning the DLC50 back on. Release the soft-keys after the splash-screen appears.
The Expert Menu system is the complete menu system that allows selection of all parameters and
functions controllable in the DLC50 and the attached microwave equipment as well as system
configuration functions. Using the rotary encoder, the user may navigate the Expert Menu system by
first selecting a menu group with the outer rotary knob, then the menu item with the inner rotary knob.
Pressing OK or the inner rotary knob will enter the selected submenu. There are 5 menu groups: DLC
Presets, TX, RX, Other, and Configuration. A listing of the 5 menu groups and their associated menus
is presented below.
