DONNING AND USE OF THE PROFLOW FH22 HOOD
WITH THE PROFLOW 3 PAPR
The PROFLOW FH22 Hood and the PROFLOW 3 must be properly attached
and donned before use. Donning the PROFLOW FH22 Hood and the
PROFLOW 3 must be done in an area know to be free of contaminants. The
respirator user must have received training in accordance with these instruc-
tions and with the instructions provided with the PROFLOW 3 and must have
practiced these procedures before attempting to use the respirator for respi-
ratory protection.
1. Examine the PROFLOW FH22 Hood to be certain it is complete and in
serviceable condition. See the REGULAR OPERATIONAL INSPECTION
section of this instruction for details. If not already removed, remove the
protective paper from the front of the visor window.
2. Examine the breathing tube assembly to verify that it is properly con-
nected to both the PROFLOW FH22 Hood and to the blower assembly.
See ATTACHING THE PAPR BREATHING TUBE section of this instruc-
tion.
3. Examine air filtration elements to verify that they are correct for protec-
tion from the hazardous atmosphere and properly installed to the blower
assembly.
4. TURN ON THE BLOWER UNIT
BEFORE
DONNING
PROFLOW FH22 HOOD. To turn
on the PROFLOW 3 blower unit,
push the push-button switch to the
ON position to confirm that the
blower is working and the battery
is fully charged. Leave the blower
ON while donning the PROFLOW
FH22 Hood.
5. Don the waist belt with the
PROFLOW 3 blower assembly so
that the breathing tube outlet is lo-
cated at the top of the unit. Fasten
the buckle and adjust the waist
belt. See FIGURE 6.
6. Position blower assembly on back
of the hip on left side of the body.
When properly donned, the ON/
OFF switch shall be accessible to
the user and the digital display
shall be visible to the user.
7. Turn the inner and outer aprons of the PROFLOW FH22 Hood inside-
out to provide access to the head band area. See FIGURE 7.
