ASH REMOVAL & DISPOSAL
CAUTION:
ALLOW THE STOVE TO COOL BEFORE PERFORMING
ANY MAINTENANCE OR CLEANING. ASHES MUST
BE DISPOSED IN A METAL CONTAINER WITH A TIGHT
FITTING LID. THE CLOSED CONTAINER OF ASHES SHOULD
BE PLACED ON A NON-COMBUSTIBLE SURFACE OR ON
THE GROUND, WELL AWAY FROM ALL COMBUSTIBLE
MATERIALS, PENDING FINAL DISPOSAL.
Remove the ashes periodically to avoid unnecessary ash
build up. Remove ashes when unit has cooled. Ashes
should be placed in a metal container with a tight fitting
lid. The closed container of ashes should be placed on a
noncombustible floor or on the ground, well away from
all combustible materials, pending final disposal. If the
ashes are disposed of by burial in soil or otherwise locally
dispersed, they should be retained in the closed container
until all embers have been thoroughly cooled. The container
shall not be used for other trash or waste disposal. If
combined with combustible substances, ashes and embers
may ignite. Ash removal is as follows:
Freestanding Models
1. Let the fire burn out and allow the unit to cool to room
temperature.
2. With the door closed clean heat exchanger tubes.
3. Make sure the pellet stove is at room temperature
before touching. Open the door, remove the burn pot
and empty it into a metal container.
4. Empty ashes from the inner section into the pedestal ash
bin through the opening at the bottom of the firebox.
Scrape the inner section with the cleaning tool. Make
sure holes are not plugged.
5. Scrape ash in the firebox into the pedestal ash bin
through the opening at the bottom of the firebox or
vacuum to remove ashes.
