20. Operation / Service

- A vapour film can occur particularly in the early hours of the morning due
to the temperature differential between the outside air and the collector. It
will disappear as the collector heats up.
-
Where possible avoid switching off the power during solar irradiation. If vapour
forms during very high solar yield, the system starts again automatically
after it has cooled down.
-
The overheating protection function in the control unit does not need to be
switched on for flat-plate collectors.
-
No special measures are required for times when no hot water is required,
i.e. during holidays.
-
Ask your local contractor to inspect the system when the system pressure
fluctuates severely or the ANRO heat transfer medium has been expelled
from the safety valve.
- Maintenance work must only be carried out by a qualified heating
contractor.
- The high performance flat-plate collectors from Warmflow require little
maintenance. We recommend an annual inspection and demand-dependent
service for the entire system. We therefore recommend you arrange a
maintenance contract with a local heating contractor.
- Vent the system at its highest point when the system pressure fluctuates or
the pump(s) run noisily.
-
Check the system pressure. In the cold state, it must be approx. 3 bar. This
NB
applies to height differentials up to 17 m from the collector to the lowest point
of the system.
-
Subject to operating conditions, check the ANRO heat transfer medium
annually to prevent it from decaying and thereby to prevent damage to the
pipework.
- Draw a small amount of ANRO from the safety valve or the fill & drain valve
-
Check the colour.
-
If the medium is coloured blue, no measures are required.
-
Carry out a pH test if the medium is coloured brown.
NB
An authorised contractor must replace the heat transfer medium if the
pH value is below pH 7.
-
Checking the frost protection
-
The frost protection must be correct, subject to the respective climate zone.
We recommend you replace the heat transfer medium when the frost
protection falls below –25 °C.
-
Never top up with water if there is insufficient medium in the system.
Otherwise there is a risk that the system is no longer protected against
frost, resulting in frost damage when the system is covered by snow
and in case of severe frost.
-
Check the condition of the protective anode inside the solar cylinder every
two years.
-
Check the heat exchanger and thermostatic mixing valves for scaling and
function.
- After commissioning, check the throughput at the flow meter.
-
We recommend you check the control parameters to ensure they have not
been changed unintentionally.
