Connect the cuff to the instrument by inserting the cuff connector
9 into the cuff socket 4 as far as it will go.
3. Selecting «DIAG.» or «USUAL» Mode
Using the mode switch AT on the side of the device select between
«DIAG.» (Diagnostic) or «USUAL» (Usual) mode.
«DIAG.» Mode
The «DIAG.» mode should be selected, so that the blood pressure
measured by the patient at home is exactly recorded in accordance to
the guidelines of the European Society of Hypertension (ESH).

When and how to measure?

• The patient should carry out readings on 7 consecutive working
days (or normal week days), taking one measurement cycle in the
morning and one cycle in the evening. No readings should be
taken on «non-working» days (or particularly relaxing days) in
this mode!

• If possible, the measurements should be taken in the morning
between 06:00 - 09:00 and in the evening between 18:00 - 21:00.
Measure in the morning after getting up when you feel relaxed
and evening at least 15 minutes after your meal. If you are on
medication to lower your blood pressure it is important that you
take the measurements before taking your medication.
• Press the ON/OFF button 1 to start the measurement cycle. Every
measurement cycle comprises 2 consecutive automatic measure-
ments. First, you will notice that the measurement mode selected
flashes on the screen. This is followed by a 60 second relaxation
period before the first measurement is taken. Then there is
another 60 second relaxation period before the second measure-
ment starts. Finally, the result of the second measurement is
displayed on the screen and both values automatically stored.
In the «DIAG.» mode, the device accepts measurements
between 06:00 - 12:00 for morning measurements and
between 18:00 - 24:00 for evening measurements. Outside
these times, measurements cannot be taken and the appro-
priate symbol BL is displayed. This symbol also appears, if
measurements have already been recorded for this morning or
evening session, as no further measurement is necessary at
this time.
