5.2.3 STINGR Serial Packet Commands

5.2.3.1 "Proprietary Track" command

This command allows the initiation of a periodic track message with user defined data prepended and appended to the
latitude and longitude fields. A periodic 9-byte custom track message, transmitted nominally at the interval specified,
will result.
In track mode, the STINGR does not send bursted (redundant) messages. It will transmit a single transmission for each
interval. If it is desired to send bursted messages, use the Send Data (0x00) or Send Redundant Burst with GPS (0x33)
commands. While in Proprietary Track mode with an interval of 30 minutes or less, the GPS will retain its clock and
ephemeris data in order to perform a "hot" GPS fix. This will increase the sleep current to the "GPS Standby Mode"
value in Table 4. For tracking intervals greater than 30 minutes, the GPS will be powered off in between transmissions
and the sleep current will be the "Standby Mode" value in Table 4.

GPS Standby Mode
Standby Mode
Description
Always a value of 0xAA.
0x0A (10 decimal)
0x30 = Initiate proprietary track.
Interval in minutes between the track points.
Values of 2 or less will result in 2.5 minute
intervals.
The value to transmit as byte 0
The value to transmit as byte 7.
The value to transmit as byte 8.
