4.2.5 Indication

The inability to walk or severely limited ability to walk within the context of the basic need to move in your
own home.
The provision of wheelchairs with a standing feature is advisable if regular (several times per day) standing
training must be carried out as a therapeutic action, and other standing aids, e.g. underarm crutches,
axillary crutches, walking frames, cannot be used.
These wheelchairs are only used if manually operated standing devices cannot be operated due to the
wheelchair user's low level of residual strength.

4.2.6 Contraindications

The provision of power wheelchairs is unsuitable for persons with:
Severe balance disorders
Limited and inadequate vision
Severely limited cognitive abilities
Loss of both arms, or the inability to sit
