5.9 Heat source brine connection

The sizing and installation of the brine collector is
the responsibility of the installer and is to be car-
ried out according to OCHSNER guidelines. The
heat source connection is to be executed in such a
way that the brine circuit can be flushed and/or
bled at any time. The amount of heat carrier fluid
required is to be calculated beforehand. This is a
product of the pipework length and pipe dimen-
sion as well as the heat pump water content The
heat carrier fluid is to be poured into a clean con-
tainer in one pour and well stirred.
Ethylene glycol in a mixture of 25%-30% by volume
is to be used as anti-freeze, this providing protec-
tion down to –12 to –15°C.
The anti-freeze fluid must not be mixed with ag-
gressive raw water (pH-value below 7.0), distilled
water
or rain water.
NOTE:
As the protection against corrosion de-
creases in the course of time, a two-
yearly water quality check is recom-
mended
The frost protection, the pH-value, as well as the
rest alkalinity are to be checked. This check is to
be carried out with a representative quantity (for
instance. 3x 1/4l). The correct mix relationship is
to be tested with a refractometer. The filling is to
be carried out in such a way as to ensure the
proper bleeding of the system
In order to ensure a reliable operation,
a temperature difference of 3K
between the evaporator (heat source)
flow and return
is to be maintained.
The flow rate in the pipe-network must
not exceed 0.8 m/s. (noise/resistance).

5.10 Flow rate metering brine

The flow rate meter is part of the heat pump and
must be installed by the system installer according
to the OCHSNER installation guidelines. Please ob-
serve the instructions in the installation manual
for flow rate measuring meters. If the flow rate
meter is either not installed, or incorrectly in-
stalled, OCHSNER will not undertake the commis-
sioning of the system.
OCHSNER accepts no liability for possi-
ble damage which may occur if the flow
rate meter is either not installed, incor-
rectly installed, sized or wired up.

5.10.1 Collection shaft

If a collection shaft is to be installed, a
lined conduit with a slope towards the collecting
shaft
is to be used.
