It will damage the functioning of the brewing chamber. Never fill sugar coated coffee beans into the bean container.

    X8 and on every aspect of coffee. Setting up the machine When setting up your X8, please note the following: Place the X8 on a horizontal surface that is not sensitive to water. Choose a spot for your X8 which protects the machine against overheating.

    First-time use When using the machine for the first time, you can choose whether you want to operate X8 with or without the CLEARYL Pro Smart filter cartridge. As well as limescale, the filter cartridge filters many other substances that impair aroma and flavor out of the water.

    T  Connect the other end of the milk pipe to a milk container or a milk cooler. Connecting an accessory Your X8 is equipped with the JURA Smart Connect. This allows you (via Bluetooth) to connect the machine to a compatible accessory (e.g. the JURA Cool Control Wireless milk cooler) via Bluetooth.

    The start screen is displayed. Your X8 is ready for use. Daily maintenance To ensure that you get many years of reliable service out of your X8 and to guarantee the optimum coffee quality, the machine requires daily maintenance.

    Traces of milk and coffee may stick to the top and bottom of the cup platform. If this happens, clean the cup platform.     T  Press the ‘’ button to exit programming mode. Setting the water The harder the water is, the more frequently the X8 needs to be hardness descaled. It is therefore important to set the water hardness accurately. The water hardness was set when the machine was first used. You can change this setting at any time.

    ‘Machine is rinsing’, water flows out of the dual spout. The operation stops automatically. Rinsing the milk system After each milk preparation, the X8 prompts you to perform a milk system rinse. Precondition: ‘Rinse the milk system’ is displayed. T  Place a receptacle under the dual spout.

    T  If swallowed, rinse mouth immediately and drink large quantities of water. Do not induce vomiting. Seek medical advice immediately and show label. E JURA milk system cleaner is available from specialized dealers. E To clean the milk system, use the container supplied. Precondition: The start screen is displayed.

  • Page 35 T  Rinse all the parts under running water. If there are severely dried-on milk residues, firstly immerse the individual parts in a solution of 8.5 oz (250 ml) cold water and 1 capful of JURA milk system cleaner. Then rinse the parts thoroughly.

    5 Maintenance Inserting the filter Your X8 no longer has to be descaled if you are using the CLEARYL Pro Smart filter cartridge. If you did not insert the filter cartridge the first time you used the machine, you can do this now as follows.

    E If the filter is active, this is indicated by a blue filter symbol at the bottom of the display. Cleaning the machine After 180 preparations or 80 switch-on rinses, the X8 will prompt you to clean it. J WARNING Non-recommended (e.g. liquid) cleaning agents may contain substances that could damage the machine or leave residues.

    Cleaning is now complete. Descaling the machine The X8 builds up deposits of limescale over time and automatically prompts you to descale it when necessary. The degree of calcification depends on the hardness of your water.
  • Page 39 5 Maintenance J WARNING Non-recommended descaling agents (e.g. vinegar) may contain substances that could damage the machine or leave residues. T  Use only original JURA descaling tablets. These are specially formulated for your machine. J WARNING J WARNING Harmful and irritating descaling agent. Harmful if swallowed.
  • Page 40 5 Maintenance T  Completely dissolve 3 JURA descaling tablets in a receptacle holding 20 oz (600 ml) of water. This may take several minutes. T  Pour the solution into the empty water tank and insert it into the machine. T  Place one receptacle under the dual spout and another under the hot-water spout.
