Playback
● Turn on the TV (and/or Digital Set Top Box).
● Set the [VCR/TV/CABLE/DBS] selector on the
Remote to [VCR].

NOTES:
● It will take a moment until the image appears when you play
back cut segments (segments for which recording was
continued after stopping or pausing) or segments for which
recording was switched from VHS mode (SP or EP) to D-VHS
mode.
● For a cassette recorded in D-VHS mode, playback is not
possible if the cassette was recorded in LS3 or LS5 mode.

This VCR can check the tape condition during playback
(and recording), and realize the best possible pictures.
● This VCR can play back tapes that have been recorded
in D-VHS (MTP), S-VHS, S-VHS ET and VHS formats
and automatically identifies the recording format.
● Tapes recorded in D-VHS mode cannot be played back
directly to a normal TV, please connect to an Integrated
HDTV (
pg. 7) or use a Digital Set Top Box (

Set up link between this VCR and the
Integrated HDTV or Digital Set Top Box
● Select i.LINK connection at the Integrated
HDTV or Digital Set Top Box. For details, refer
to the instruction manual of the Integrated
HDTV or Digital Set Top Box.

Load a cassette
Make sure the window side is up, the rear label
side is facing you and the arrow on the front of
the cassette is pointing towards the VCR.
Do not apply too much pressure when inserting.
● The VCR turns on automatically.
● The counter is reset automatically, however, it is
not completely reset to "0:00:00".
● If the cassette's record safety tab has been
removed, playback begins automatically.
● Set "LINC" to "AUTO". (

Start playback
Press [PLAY ( 3 )].
● Recording speed is automatically detected.
● The [D-VHS] indicator on the front display
panel lights up.
Playing back D-Theater tapes
When playing back D-Theater tape, depending on
the Integrated HDTV or Digital Set Top Box used,
Dolby Digital sound may not be selectable.
In this case, select the 2-ch audio sound.
