ATM Device Interconnection
For UNI (User-to-Network Interface) port connections complying with the ATM forum,
a straight-through cable should be used, with the pin assignment shown in Figure 13.

For port-to-port connections, the transmit and receive pairs must be crossed (Pin 1 to
Pin 7, and Pin 2 to Pin 8) according to Table 50.

Early models of ATM adapters do not comply to the ATM Forum. To connect
non-ATM Forum compliant devices to ATM Forum compliant ports, you must use a
twisted pair cable that connects the pins as shown in Table 51.
