basedonaprioritisationlistandfailover
arrangementtoselectandlock-ontoan
activereferenceclockorswitchtoan
alternativesourceifsynchronisationis
lost.
Theboardalsoincludesanon-board
referenceclockforusewhenneitherthe
externalAoIPclockortherearpanelsync
inputsareselected.

Thiscanbeconsideredtheprimarysync
sourcefortheUR6500.EachUS6493
AoIPdeviceprovidesasetofaudio
clockstotheUR6500'sFPGAfirmware
incorporatingabaserateclock(runningat
FSrate),aBCLKbit-rateclock(64FS)and
anSCLKsystemclock(generallyeither
128FS,256FSor512FS).TheFPGA
usestheseclocksourcestosynctothe
externalAoIPnetworkPTPv2clock.
Ifnoexternalsyncisconnectedand
selected,theconsolewillfree-runonits
owninternalreferenceclock.
Generalrulesofgoodpractiserequire
thatallequipmentconnectedtotheaudio
console'sdigitalinputsandoutputsare
lockedtothesamereferencedsync
sourceastheconsoletoensureclean
audio.Itisofparamountimportancethat
allconnectedprocessingcoresarelocked
tothesamereferencedsyncsource.
Itisrecommendedthatbackupsync
sourcesandpathsareconsideredto
maintainfullfunctionalityintheeventof
thelossofanypartofthefacility'ssync
distributionsystem.

WhennooptionalUS6493AoIPinterfacesarefittedtothecore,externalsync
sourcescanbefedtotheBNCconnectorsontherearofthecoreasshownbelow.
TwoTTLWordclockinputsareavailable.
SYNC INPUTS
SeeExternalsourcestablebelowandtheTypeRUsermanualforinformationonhow
tosetupsynchronisationpriority.
Theconsolewillalwaysattempttoboottothehighestprioritysyncselected,andmove
downtheprioritylistuntilitfindsavalidsync.
Ifavalidsynclaterfails,itwillmovedownthelist.Ifnovalidsyncispresent,thesystem
willalwaysdefaulttointernalasthisisfixedasthelastsourceinthelist.Thepriority
willneverautomaticallymovebackupthelistevenifahigherprioritysyncbecomes
available.Pressthe'ResetToFirst'buttontomovebackuptothetopofthelist.
Itisimportantthattherequiredsyncsourceisavailablebeforetheconsolebootsup
otherwiseitwon'tbelockedtothecorrectsync.Ifthisoccurspressthe'Resettofirst'
buttonafterthesyncgeneratorisrunning.
