UPDATE AOIP DEVICE FIRMWARE TO THE LATEST VERSION
All Calrec AoIP end-points are served by AoIP devices. Type R IO boxes include one device and Type R Cores can include up to
two devices. When a device is installed in a core, the corresponding Pres LED on the front of the core will light green.
A newer AoIP device software version may have been released since your Type R system left Calrec. To check and update the
versions installed on a core, follow these steps:
1. With the PC connected to the core's Setup port, type
172.16.255.1 into the Google Chrome address bar and
press enter to navigate to the first AoIP device's web page.
ImportantNote: Do not change any other settings in this web
UI unless instructed to do so by a Calrec Support Engineer.
2. Navigate to Config in the main menu.
3. Under Firmware make a note of the firmware version listed.
4. In Google Chrome, navigate to
login with the following case-sensitive credentials:
Account: TypeR
Password: tYoarEdQ
5. Double-click on the TypeR folder to open it then open the AoIP deviceupdatesfolder and then the Core folder.
Each firmware release package will be displayed, each with the firmware version number in the file name.

6. If a firmware version newer than the version installed on your system is available, double-click on it to download it to your PC.
7. Navigate to the AoIP device web page again, click UpdateFirmware then navigate to and select the downloaded firmware
package in the file explorer dialogue. Click Open, the update process will begin. This make take several minutes and no
progress feedback will be given during the update, so be sure to wait at least 10 minutes before power-cycling or rebooting
the device.
8. If a second AoIP device is fitted in the core, navigate to 172.16.255.2 and repeat step 2 to 7 again for that device.
To update the AoIP device fitted in each IObox, follow these steps:
1. Connect your PC's ethernet adapter to the Setup port on the front of the IO box.
2. In Google Chrome, navigate to 172.16.255.100 to access the AoIP device's web page.
3. Repeat steps 2 to 7 given above but at step 5 open the IOboxes folder to view and download firmware updates for IO box
AoIP devices. This is because the AoIP devices in IO boxes use different software release packages to core AoIP devices.
Note: In a later version, IO box updates will be possible from Calrec Connect and an improved AoIP device web UI.
