Servicing the Tracks

Cleaning the Tracks
Service Interval: After each use
Check the tracks for excessive wear and clean them
periodically. If the tracks are worn, replace them.
1. Lower the grinder.
2. Stop the engine, remove the key, and wait for all moving
parts to stop before leaving the operating position.
3. Using a water hose or pressure washer, remove dirt
from each track system.
Important: Ensure that you use high-pressure water to
wash only the track area. Do not use a high-pressure
washer to clean the rest of the machine. High-pressure
washing can damage the electrical system and hydraulic
valves or deplete grease.
Important: Ensure that you fully clean the wheels and
the drive sprocket

Checking and Adjusting the Track
Tension
Service Interval: After the first 50 hours
Every 100 hours
To check the tension of each track, place 45 lb (20.4 kg) on
the track midway between the front road wheel and the drive
sprocket. The track should flex no more than 1/4 to 3/8 inch
(0.6 to 1 cm); refer to
Figure
tension using the following procedure:
46).
3. Track
47. If it does, adjust the track
1. Stop the machine in on a level surface.
2. Stop the engine, lower the grinder, remove the key, and
wait for all moving parts to stop before leaving the
operating position.
3. Loosen the jam nut on the track tensioning bolt

1. Tensioning bolt
2. Jam nut
4. Torque the tensioning bolt to 24 to 30 ft-lb (32.5 to 40
N-m) to tighten the track
5. Ensure that the track deflects less than 1/4 to 3/8 inch
(0.6 to 1 cm) when 45 lb (20.6 kg) of force is applied
to the track span. Adjust the torque on the tensioning
bolt as needed.
6. Tighten the jam nut.
Replacing the Tracks
When the tracks are badly worn, replace them.
1. Lower the grinder.
2. Stop the engine, remove the key, and wait for all moving
parts to stop before leaving the operating position.
3. Lift/support the side of the unit to be worked on so
that the track is 3 to 4 inches (7.6 to 10 cm) off of the
ground.
4. Back out the tensioning bolt and jam nut
5. Push the tensioning wheel rearward as far as it will go
