E398 Low Fuel Rail Pressure

Conditions Which Generate This Code:
The Electronic Control Module (ECM) detects a fault
with low fuel rail pressure. The ECM detects the
following faults:
•
The ECM determines that the expected fuel
rail pressure is lower than the pressure that is
requested by the electronic control system.
•
Diagnostic code 262-3 5 Volt Sensor DC Power
Supply voltage above normal is not active.
• Diagnostic code 262-4 5 Volt Sensor DC Power
Supply voltage below normal is not active.
•
Diagnostic code 1797-3 Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor
voltage above normal is not active.
•
Diagnostic code 1797-4 Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor
voltage below normal is not active.
•
No diagnostic codes are active for the fuel rail
pump.
•
No diagnostic codes are active for the fuel injectors.
System Response:
The warning lamp will be illuminated and the
diagnostic lamp will flash the event code.
The event code will be logged.
Possible Performance Effect:
E398-2
The derate lamp will be illuminated.
The engine will be derated until the keyswitch is
turned to OFF and then turned to ON.
Troubleshooting:
Low fuel pressure may be caused by the following
faults:
•
A fault in the fuel return system
•
A fault in the fuel pressure control
•
A leak in the high pressure fuel system
•
A failed relief valve, the fuel pump or an electronic
unit injector

E539 High Intake Manifold Air
Temperature
Conditions Which Generate This Code:
The Electronic Control Module (ECM) detects a fault
with the intake manifold air temperature. The ECM
detects the following faults:
•
The engine has been running for more than 3
minutes.
•
The trip point for the event code for intake manifold
air temperature is reached.
•
Diagnostic code 172-3 Intake Manifold Air
Temperature open/short to +batt is not active.
• Diagnostic code 172-4 Intake Manifold Air
Temperature short to ground is not active.
