Figure 38:
Shunt resistor module
Connecting injection unit REX060, coupling capacitor unit
REX061 and shunt resistor unit REX062
The injection unit REX060 should be installed close to the IED in the same cubicle,
or at minimum within 10 m distance of the IED.
The coupling capacitor unit REX061 should be mounted close to the generator in
order to limit the exposure of the field circuit. Alternatively it can be located in the
excitation cubicle. REX061 should be connected as a permanently connected
equipment. The connection cables should be at least 1.5 mm
injection voltage 250 V and rated field injection voltage 800 V
The shunt resistor unit REX062, if used in the application, should preferably also be
installed in the same cubicle as REX060.
For information on type, cross section and maximum length of the
cables refer to section Connection diagrams in the REG 670 Technical
Manual.
Connecting to protective earth
Connect the protective earthing screw on the rear of each unit to the closest possible
earthing point in the cubicle. Electrical codes and standards require that protective
earth cables are green/yellow conductors with a cross section area of at least 2.5 mm
(AWG 14).
The cubicle must be properly connected to the station earthing system. Use a
conductor with a core cross section area of at least 4 mm
Connecting the power supply module
The wiring from the cubicle terminal block to the REX060 unit (see figure
connection diagram) must be made in accordance with the established guidelines for
