Definitions
Explosion-Proof
Approved for use in Hazardous Locations (Potentially Explosive Atmospheres)
Explosion proof refers to the protection method Ex-d which employs mainly mechanical
safeguards,
These safeguards prevent the propagation of a flame from the inside to the outside of the
equipment and thus preventing the ignition of the surrounding hazardous atmosphere.
Non-Explosion-Proof
Not approved for use in Hazardous Locations (Potentially Explosive Atmospheres)
ATEX
European Directive for products intended for use in Potentially Explosive Atmospheres
(Hazardous Locations)
CE marked
European Marking which demonstrates compliance with "all relevant European Directives"
Product may also be accompanied by a "Declaration of Conformity" signed by the manufacturer
or his representative in the EU
