Retrieving the CM's MAC Address
Some configuration operations require you to enter the CM's MAC address.
The CM and AP MAC addresses are printed on labels on the outside of the T811-CM, as described in AP and CM MAC Addresses,
Connectors and Ground Point. If you are unable to physically view the MAC address label, it may be possible to retrieve the MAC
address using either the AP or CM CLI interface.
Both methods require that you already know the IP address of the AP or CM.
Retrieving the CM's MAC Address using the CM
CLI
If you cannot find the CM's MAC address on the T811-CM, you can retrieve it via the CMTS using the Cable Modem command line
interface.
Use CM command line interface via the CMTS to retrieve the CM's MAC address.
1.
Obtain the IP address assigned to the CM.
2.
Connect an administrative computer to the same subnet as the T811-CM.
3.
Start the Telnet or SSH client program on the administrative computer.
4.
Log onto the CM using Telnet or SSH with the following logon details:
User name: super
Password: mso-admin
5.
When the command prompt appears, enter the following command:
mainMenu> system
system> ipPrint
If you are not at the "mainMenu" prompt, enter the command "top" to go mainMenu.
xxxx> top
The CLI displays all of the interfaces on the cable modem. Look for the wan0 entry to obtain the CM's MAC address.
