If pressure measurements are being performed with other gases, is necessary to correct the reading accordingly. The Gas Type parameter is used to adjust the correction factor for the respective gas type.

For general vacuum use, the discrepancy in reported measurements is not greater than 10% for the common gauges, rising to a little above 20% for the less common gases, where less accurate information is available.
