14. Open the firmware text file by double-clicking it. See the figure below.
Firmware files are named in the following format:
GeoNet_Firmware_YYMMDD.txt, where YY is the last two digits of the year,
MM is the month, and DD is the day of the month.

15. Using the drop-down box below the "Select File" button, select the correct
serial port for the 8001-7 cable. See the figure below. Identify the serial port
to which the unit is connected by following the steps below:
a. Unplug the 8001-7 cable from the PC.
b. In Windows, open the Control Panel, then open the Device Manager.
c. Click the triangle to the left of "Ports (COM & LPT)" to expand the list.
d. Plug in the cable; the port will appear in the list.

16. Click the Program button. See the figure below.
