Getting Started - RAID Array 410 for HP-UX

3.1.2.2 Verify the Setting of the SCSI ID DIP Switches

1. Remove the HP-PB board from its protective packaging being careful to hold the board
by the face plate or board edges. Do not touch the electronic components or the board
etches.
2. Locate the DIP switches on the adapter board (see Figure 3-3).
Figure 3-3 Host Adapter Board
The DIP switches are used to set the SCSI address of the adapter. By convention, the SCSI
address of a host adapter is normally 7, providing it with the highest priority among the eight
devices that can be attached to an 8-bit bus. The switches are preset at address 7 (Figure 3-4)
and should not be changed unless there are multiple SCSI adapters on the same SCSI bus. If
a second host adapter is installed, the address of the second board should be set to 6. If a
change must be made, set the switches to a unique address so that no two devices on the bus
have the same address. Make sure to set the address so that the host adapter has the highest
possible priority.
