Replacing CD-
ROM, CD-RW,
and DVD Drives
The CD-ROM, CD-RW,
and DVD drives are often
called optical drives
because they use light to
read and write information
to a CD (Compact Disc) or
to a DVD (Digital Versatile
Disc). These discs store
massive amounts of
information.
The CD-ROM drive allows
you to read data from a CD.
The CD-RW drive allows
you to read CDs and write
data to CDs for permanent
storage.
The DVD drive allows you
to view your favorite
movies and listen to music.
It can also read CDs.
