MAINTENANCE

Preparing for Maintenance

IMPORTANT: Before tipping the mower to change
the oil or replace the blade, allow the fuel tank to run
dry through normal usage. If you must tip the mower
prior to running out of fuel, use a hand fuel pump to
remove the fuel. Always tip the mower onto its side,
with the dipstick down.
WARNING: Tipping the mower may cause the fuel to
leak. Fuel is fl ammable and explosive and can cause
personal injury.
1. Shut off the engine and wait for all moving parts to
stop.
2. Disconnect the spark plug lead from the spark
plug.
3. After performing the maintenance procedure(s),
connect the spark plug lead to the spark plug.

Air Filter Service

WARNING: Never start and run the engine with the
air fi lter removed.
NOTE: Do not use excessive pressurised air or
solvents to clean the fi lter. Pressurised air can

damage the fi lter and solvents will dissolve the fi lter.
1. Loosen the fasteners (1) at the top of the air fi lter
cover (2).
2. Remove the cover (2).
3. To prevent debris from falling into the carburettor,
carefully remove the pre-cleaner (3) and the fi lter
(4) from the air fi lter base.
4. Remove the pre-cleaner (3), from the fi lter (4).
5. To loosen debris, gently tap the fi lter (4) on a hard
surface. if the fi lter is excessively dirty, replace with
a new fi lter.
6. Wash the pre-cleaner (3) in liquid detergent and
water. Allow the pre-cleaner to thoroughly air dry.
DO NOT oil the pre-cleaner.
7.
Assemble the dry pre-cleaner (3) to the fi lter (4).
8. Install the fi lter (4) and pre-cleaner (3) onto the air
fi lter base. Make sure the fi lter fi ts securely on the
air fi lter base.
9. Install the cover (2) and secure with the fasteners
(1). Make sure the fasteners are tight.
