Initial Start-up

4.2.1

Inspections prior to Start-up of Brake

Prior to start-up, check the following:
Does the ordered voltage and performance data match the type plate data?
Is the brake damaged or have foreign particles contaminated either the area of
operation or the air gap of the brake?
Check the release function of the brake by switching the brake (brake closed, brake
open).
Warning!

Notes on Running-in Process

Warning!
To reach the nominal braking torques, the emergency stop function must be actuated
multiple times before operating the brake for the first time.
In most cases, we recommend using the motor rotating mass for five emergency stops
at 1500 rpm.
01.09.2011 Rev. 01
Loss of Braking Efficiency!
If the brake is damaged or contaminated, or if the switching function
can no longer be guaranteed, the brake must not be put into
operation.
Limited Braking Efficiency!
The nominal braking torques are not reached until the running-in
period is completed. The braking torques depends on the running-in
state of the brake.
