5 Pull the battery out slightly.
6 Remove the housing flap.
Where applicable, remove the
empty ampoule from the air
flow indicator.
Take a new ampoule from the
pack and remove the protective
cap.
7 Insert the ampoule in the air
flow indicator, with the outlet
end first
8 and insert into the blue liner.
6 Close the housing flap.
5 Push the battery back into pla-
ce and
4 Push the battery lock button to
lock the battery in position.

Fitting/replacing the nozzle

Remove the nozzle from the
pack and
9 push it as far as it will go into
the holding seal of the air flow
indicator.
If using a new pack of ampoules,
the nozzle on the apparatus must
be replaced by the new nozzle
supplied in the pack.
10 Remove the nozzle from the
holding seal of the air flow indi-
cator.
9 Insert the new nozzle as far as it
will go into the holding seal of
the air flow indicator.

Fixing the hose unit insert

1 Push the hose unit insert into
the housing closely.
When taking the instrument out of
service for an extended period of
time or in case of extended
storage remove the hose unit
insert approx. 5 mm from the
housing.

Operation

Do not operate the air flow indicator without the nozzle.
During operation:
– Do not look into the nozzle!
– Do not aim the air flow indicator at living beings. Danger due to hot
droplets of smoke spray (approx. 300
– Do not direct the smoke cloud toward objects hotter than 300
o
(572 C).
Failure to comply with the above may cause burns or damage to surfaces.

Generating smoke

2 With the slider in the front posi-
tion, press the button: smoke
will be generated as long as the
button is held down.
3 When the slider is in the rear
position, smoke will be genera-
ted as long as the slider is in
this position.
While smoke is being genera-
ted, the LED will be lit green.
