Operating Mechanism Maintenance
1HSB515409-100 en rev2
The work requires training and product knowledge and may only be
carried out by authorised personnel.
Risk
Working next to high voltage.
Working on ladders and platforms.
Working with low voltage.
Both alternating (AC) and direct (DC)
current can be routed to the
operating mechanism.
Risk of crushing in the operating
mechanism and link system.
There is stored energy in both the
opening and the closing springs. The
mechanism can be tripped by heavy
vibrations or by unintentional contact
with the catch components.
Working next to pressurised
insulators.
The normal working pressure is up to
0.8 MPa. Damage to the porcelain
can result in splintering.
WARNING
Isolate and earth next to the work
place. If work must be carried out
next to live installation components,
the safety distance applying in the
country's applicable safety
regulations must be observed.
Work shall be carried out in
accordance with applicable safety
regulations in the country concerned.
Difficult weather conditions that
require short shifts with a great deal
of climbing on ladders and platforms,
should be avoided.
Switch off the control voltage and if
necessary the heater voltage.
Operate the circuit-breaker to the
open position. Isolate and earth the
high-voltage side. Discharge the
springs by switching off the motor
current and perform a Close-Open
operation or move the drive shaft on
the operating mechanism backwards
by hand. For reasons of safety the
closing springs must be uncharged
during transportation as well as
during assembly and storage.
Work next to the circuit-breaker's
insulators that may result in damage
to the porcelain must not be carried
out until the gas has been emptied to
max. 0.125 MPa (abs.) pressure.
