4-5. Using the driving support systems
The shape of the obstacle may prevent a sensor from detecting it. Pay par-
ticular attention to the following obstacles:
• Thin object such as wire, fences, ropes, etc.
• Cotton, snow and other materials that absorb sound waves
• Sharply-angled objects
• Low obstacles
• Tall obstacles with upper sections projecting outwards in the direction of
your vehicle
• People wearing certain types of clothing
After an obstacle is detected, it may take some time before the buzzer
sounds. Even if the vehicle is moving at low speeds, the vehicle may come
close to the obstacle before the buzzer sounds.
Obstacles that are lower than the sensor or thin may not be detected when
the vehicle comes close, even after they are detected once.
When the audio system (if equipped) or air conditioning system is used, the
buzzer may not be heard due to the sound of music or the fan.

When the system malfunctions

If the buzzer sounds when there is no obstacle, clean the sensors with soft
cloth. If the buzzer does not stop after cleaning the sensor, contact your
Toyota dealer.
