Change Fuel Filter
WARNING
flammable and explosive. Fire or explosion can cause
severe burns or death.
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. See Cleaning
the Battery and Cables.
2. Place a container below the filter to catch spilled fuel.
3. Using pliers, open and slide hose clamps (A, Figure 21)
from fuel filter (B).
4. Remove hoses (C) from filter.
5. Install new filter in proper flow direction in fuel line.
6. Secure fuel line with hose clamps.
7. Reconnect battery cable.

Check Transmission Oil Level
NOTICE Do not allow dirt, water, or other debris to enter
the expansion chamber or transmission. Even a small
amount of dirt can damage the transmission.
Use type F automatic transmission fluid.
1. Clean area around transmission dip stick (A, Figure 22).
2. Check and fill the transmission oil level with the mower
in the transport position.
3. Remove dip stick from transmission and wipe it clean.
4. Insert the dip stick into the transmission without
threading it in. Remove the dip stick and read the oil
level. The oil level should be even with the top of the
hash mark area when the transmission is cold.
