Preparing for PCIBOX Operation

This section contains installation notes and specifications.
4.3.1

Notes on PCIBOX installation

Equipment damage
Observe the following precautions to prevent damage to the PCIBOX.
• Rack installation notes
Follow these procedures to ensure that safety requirements are addressed when this
product is installed in the rack.
l As the PCIBOX is installed in a closed or multi-unit rack assembly, the ambient
operating temperature inside of the rack environment may be greater than the room
temperature. Make sure that the PCIBOX is installed in an environment that does
not exceed the manufacturer's maximum rated ambient temperature.
- Adjust air conditioning and air circulation to prevent the internal rack ambient
temperature from exceeding the maximum operating temperature of this unit.
- Maximum internal operating temperature of this unit: 35 °C (95 °F).
- Install the PCIBOX so that the amount of air flow required for safe operation of
the PCIBOX is not compromised.
- The PCIBOX has ventilation openings at the front and back faces of the unit.
To prevent overheating, do not cover or close these ventilation openings.
l Mounting of the PCIBOX in the rack should not cause an unbalanced load. To
maintain the stability of the entire rack, please fix the rack to the wall or floor by
suitable means.
- Be careful of injuries during installation of the PCIBOX into the rack.
- Do not install the PCIBOX into a rack if the PCIBOX makes the entire rack top-
heavy.
- Maximum configured weight of this unit: 33 kg (72.8 lb.)
l If the PCIBOX is supplied with power from a power strip or service outlet of other
units, it may overload the power supply cable or the power strip of other units.
- Confirm that the current rating of the power strip or service outlet exceeds the
combined ratings of all equipment it is supplying.
