(2) Hardware conditions
The hardware conditions under which an interleave mode can be set are as follows:
a) Normal interleave mode
l Memory modules must be mounted on the system boards as a group of eight.
l All memory modules of a group of eight must have the same capacity.
b) Expanded interleave mode
• Expanded 2-SB interleave mode
l Two system boards must be mounted on the server.
l Memory modules must be fully mounted on the each applicable system board.
l All memory modules mounted on each applicable system board must have the
same capacity.
(3) Setup procedure
a) Normal interleave mode
There are no special conditions.
b) Expanded interleave mode
Settings must be made with a tool supplied with the Enhanced Support Facility
(Machine Administration). For details, refer to the Machine Administration Guide
supplied with the Enhanced Support Facility.
(4) Notes
l To enable the expanded interleave mode, always turn the main unit power off and
then on.
l If DIMM or SB degradation occurs, the system automatically returns to the normal
mode and restarts.
l The system startup time is slightly longer in this mode.
