Removing the AC power supply

Installing the AC power supply
Removing the AC power supply
Remove the AC power supply if it is not functioning properly. You can remove a redundant
power supply without affecting the operation of the Ethernet Routing Switch 8300.
Danger:
Risk of personal injury
Due to high-energy hazards of working with components of greater than 240 VA, only
qualified service personnel are permitted to install and replace Ethernet Routing Switch 8300
components.
When you remove a power supply, the LED on the power supply turns off, and the Ethernet
Routing Switch 8300 Series chassis automatically redistributes the load to the remaining power
supplies.
Caution:
Risk of equipment damage
To maintain proper cooling, never operate the Ethernet Routing Switch 8300 Series chassis
with an empty power supply bay. If you are replacing a failed power supply and you do not
have a power filler panel, leave the failed power supply installed until a replacement power
supply is available.
Remove a failed power supply to restore high-availability operation.
Use the following procedure to remove an AC power supply. For more information about
removing the AC power supply, see the job aids following the procedure.
