Chassis slots and backplane cleaning

Installing a filler panel

After you clean the chassis slots or backplane, you must install a filler panel or module in the
slot. To maintain proper airflow and cooling, always cover unused module slots and power
supply bays with filler panels. On a 8306, or 8310 chassis, the filler panel covers an empty
module slot.
Installing a filler panel takes about one minute.
Procedure steps
1. Locate the slot where you want to install the filler panel.
2. Place the filler panel over the slot .
3. Tighten the 2 screws with a Phillips screwdriver.

Installing a module

You can install an Avaya Ethernet Routing Switch 8300 module with the power on or off. If you
install a module in the same chassis slot where the same type of module was previously
installed, the previous configuration is maintained for that module in that slot. A module
installed in an Ethernet Routing Switch 8300 chassis is reset to factory defaults.
Caution:
Risk of equipment damage
Electrostatic discharge can damage hardware.
Procedure steps
1. Locate the slot where you want to install the module.
2. Remove the installed module or the filler panel.
