16. Maintenance (As per BS 5839 – 9:2011)
VoCALL 16 firmware release maintains back compatibility with earlier firmware
on the devices. However, it is recommended to update firmware on all devices to
current release. Firmware files of all released versions are available
on SD card.
When updating firmware for both Panel and Outstation, it is recommended to

update Outstation firmware first, followed by Panel.

Values of configuration parameters are retained while upgrading the firmware.
Firmware upgrade action is recorded in event log.

16. Maintenance (As per BS 5839 – 9:2011)
The section describes briefly the relevant requirements of BS5839-9:2011 for
maintenance of VoCALL 16 system. If local regulations, standards and codes calls for
stringent requirements, those need to be followed.

16.1 Responsibility

A person / organization should be appointed for maintenance of VoCALL 16 EVC
system. The responsible individual is expected to have been trained on system usage
and maintenance by the manufacturer or installer of the system. The responsibilities
include (but are not limited to below):
1. Ensuring maintenance routine described in Section 16.2 is performed
as described.
2. Ensuring all required records of maintenance is maintained.
3. Ensuring all relevant staff are trained to use the system
4. Ensuring that records are updated to reflect any changes made
to the system.

16.2 Routine

daily check
If the VoCALL 16 system is installed in a location where audible fault warnings could
be unnoticed for more than 24 hours, a special check should be performed each day
to confirm that the "System Healthy" LED is illuminated and LCD indicates
'System OK', or any faults that are indicated are receiving necessary attention.

This check only needs to be performed if the Buzzer could go unheard
for 24 hours. This inspection does not need to be recorded.
Weekly check
A functional test of the outstation should be performed to ensure it can make and
receive clear and intelligible calls to the relevant panel. A different outstation should
be used each week, so that all units will get tested in rotation.
