3-7 Integrated Peripherals

This section provides information on setting peripheral devices. By choosing the
Integrated Peripherals option from the CMOS Setup Utility menu (Figure 3-1), the
screen below is displayed. This sample screen contains the manufacturer's default
values for the mainboard.

A. On-chip Primary/Secondary PCI IDE
Disable these settings to turn off the built-in IDE controller.
B. IDE Prefetch Mode
This mode is involved in multiple sector read/writes and improves the performance
of your system. Enabling this function improves the performance of your
computer.
C. IDE HDD Block Mode
Enable this mode to improve the performance of your system. Block Mode is
also referred to as block transfer or multiple sector read/write. When this setting
is enabled, the maximum number of block read/writes per sector supported by
the the drive is detected. Most new hard drives support this mode.
