Chapter 6: Configuration

This chapter contains configuration instructions for the Ethernet Routing Switch 8300.

Connecting a terminal or PC for local access
Configuring the system using the setup utility
Connecting a terminal or PC for local access
Connect a VT-100 terminal or a personal computer to the console port on a 8393 or 8394 switch
fabric/central processing unit (SF/CPU) module to establish a local command line reference
(CLI), Avaya Command Line Reference (ACLI) or Device Manager session.
Prerequisites
You must have a serial console cable with a nine-pin receptable connector.
Procedure steps
1. Set the terminal protocol as follows:
2. Connect the RS-232 cable to the console port.
3. Connect the other end of the cable to the terminal or computer serial port.
4. Turn on the terminal or PC.
5. Log on to the CLI.
